A term used by Darin Slack and Dub Maddox to describe perfect synchronization of the elbow, shoulder and wrist to maximize velocity, accuracy and repeatability is called getting to Zero. This is throwing motion's neutral position. It is where there is no stress at the shoulder, elbow or wrist.
The coordinates for this position are elbow at 45° pointing upward so that the elbow is two inches in front of the imaginary breast plane. The forearm and bicep form an equilateral triangle. The grip and wrist force the nose of the ball to be upward at 45°. Zero can be simulated by imagining a standing tricep dumbell extension.
